We've gone without advertising for about 15 years. Word of mouth is good, BUT a lot of our older customers are dying off, and others are moving away, at the same time more and more firms are starting up or coming in from further afield and working in our area. There is only so much that word of mouth can do. So, recently we put ads in a local mag, which has already paid off. My daughter delivered leaflets in another area, and we got a call the following day with a big clearance job and more work to follow, so that's paid off. And we've just gone to Check-a-trade. This is something we swore we'd never do.... BUT that looks like it's just about to pay for itself in ONE week with a couple of jobs in already!

Twitter... apparantley... seach for people tweeting about tree surgery and problem trees ect. also facebook, google plus and linked-in... web page and an up to date blog on recent events... also recent storms have created a bit of fear so mail out to all the local schools hotels housing assosiactions ect always a good start,

Get a working relationship with a local tree consultant/y and network...

Offer your services as a sub contractor to bigger companies (feather and suffering season upon us) big up what your good at and any specialist kit or skills your team may have...

Good luck

Hope this helps

if you have a sign written truck then go park it in a nice area on busy street.

Guarantee you get calls from it...just move it around when you are not busy.

I park my van outside my flat and get several calls a week from it because its a busy road.

Far better than radion station.

Is there an easy way to locate a list of recently sold property?

What forms of advertising do you do and what works well?

Being outspoken and telling it how it is.:thumbup1: word of mouth for me and cyberspace
