This really annoys me

Three years ago my neighbours behind decided to plant a cherry right upto my fence, so when the cherry matures Half will be on my side and I will have to share said tree, the tree is exactly south from my house so will block out the sun.

 

I have said this before, if someone wants a tree in their garden I don't have a problem as long as it's in "their" garden, our gardens are nowhere near big enough for such a tree to mature.

 

The annoying bit is, the tree has only been in three years and they have already topped it for christs sake!! Why do people not put a bit more thought into tree position and choice It really does make me angry

Walking round their local garden centre the Lady will have said, oooh I really like them blossom trees and the garden centre will have said, this is a nice one, and it doesnt grow very big at all.

Why are you making a fuss about the cherry, that horrible conifer is already shutting out far more light, and isnt that in your garden?

That tree is going to be a right pain for them in years to come,especially as there,s no decent tree surgeons in youre area.:laugh:

Have you had a word with him about it? Just tell him how bad the surface roots are etc he might change his mind or just keep it in trim.

The conifers have been there 30 years, I've been there 12, the conifers are only in my garden and will not encroach on his and they don't block any skyline out, you look from his side the conifers are topped out on the ridgeline of my roof from my side they don't block any skyline either. They haven't changed size or shape in that time

 

My point is, if you are going to plant a tree don't share half of it with the neighbours and why the hell would you top it after three years :confused1:

Oliver, you wouldn't believe how laid back I am, so much so I'm nearly horizontal, I kid you not.

 

The shooting incident yesterday where I came within a whisker of death, I didn't even raise my voice to the guy, just calmly asked him what the problem was and told him to be careful for the rest of the day!

 

I think a forum is an expressive platform, to vent what you would not normally vent , I think I'd crack up otherwise
