Hi i am doing my cs40/41 this week and would like peoples opinion on what happed today.

i was on the ground in charge of lowering a lump of ash, the climber up the tree prepared everying ready to snatch it out. Our instructor warned me that i needed to aware that the timber will almost touch the floor. My capstan was in line to get hit so i asked " is it going hit my capstan " was told yes , so i asked " will that be ok " told yes . Ends up it bent in the entry fairlead bars (stein rc2000).

cheers

I've never understood snatching timber low down. At about 10' you are knacked anyway, so just disk it down or build a mat and fell the stick.

A heavy sheet of ply propped over the bollard will help protect the bollard a bit, the timber will slide off a steep angle.

I wouldn't be happy with your instructor though!
