Thanks all for the comments sofar. Budget I'm looking at is around £250 mark. I've got some PPE already as in Hat with faceguard and gloves. On the lookout for cheap steel toes and will invest in some trousers soon.

Ermmm.... straight in with a Stihl 026. There you go, sorted.

Just to let you know there are other chainsaws made by other people available in the market place :)

Oh and go and talk to Spud, he's just round the corner from you and he seems very knowledgeable on all matters on saws.

Personally, for what it sounds like you use, I'd ask Spud (Posted above) for what second hand offerings he has. You'll be gauranteed a good runner well serviced and will do you for a long while yet!! The you can treat your wife to a nice meal out with the savings and earn even more brownie points!

Same as,you will save hundreds of £££,& I can vouch his second hand saws are great.:thumbup1:

when you look in the brochure they generally offer 3 bar sizes

do not get the biggest. Middle is usually ok and if you want it to cut quick then the smaller one

at £250 make does not really matter but generally stihl or husky will keep going longer as parts available.
