It may have latent tendencies, but it's still a sporulator last time I looked..

 

you knew what i meant!

 

that its ever present in wood, even if not in the habitats, and that it is more likely a recycling fungi as opposed to an aggressive parasite if it is as they say and endo sleeping type

I went to a heathland site yesterday where there were literally many hundreds of Fomes brackets, would be a fantastic site to study the combative nature of Fomes fomentarius and Fomitopsis betulinus in close and abundent proximity within the same wood volumes.
