I reckon a landy and tracked chipper combo is FAR more versatile then a mog and PTO chipper, and Iv used both setups alot, I went for the former when choosing my own setup. there is virtually no job you cant acces. What rather puts me of the mog setup the most is the huge repair bills if they go wrong, whereas landy parts are dozen a dime. Personally for a Mog to really be worth it I think it needs a crane, otherewise there are better setups.

All depends on what kind of work you get really. and of course Mogs can tow proper stuff and the pto option opens up opportunities for other work ie postdrivers etc

For me the landy/tracked chipper is the perfect combo for the type of work I do. I had a look at mogs today and even though they are cool they ain't for me.

I am seriously considering the u900 option but purely for getting my gear to site in a oner no other reason really. The advantages of having a landy far out weigh having a mog at the moment. I'm going to see what jobs I get over the coming months and weigh up whether the mog would be better or the landy and see what comes of it

unless you are on a motorway or over 20 miles from base, mogs are great, it's just a beefed up Landy with a chipper attached. No more reversing onto a chipper, pitting a chipper away, taking it off to chip!

just point and go.

Just buy ear muffs :)

Stevie, can all mogs take a plough etc? My Dad loves them as an agric engineer, used to say that they are worth 3 tractors, but if everyone had them there would be three times less mechanics! He's always wanted one, and I fancy one too, in orange.

Maybe what work you do, if you many do pruning or small tree removals or all your customers keep the timber.

 

I can bring home 10 ton of timber and all the chip and the chipper, a large tree is normally a one day job for two of us, thats not possible with a landy.
