CSCS CRO Card, which occupation?

Need to get a CSCS card sorted, going for the white/grey "Construction Related Occupation" Card but wasn't sure which occupation code to use from the following:

5018 Arboriculture & Forestry Operative

5055 Chainsaw, Tree Climbing

5378 Chainsaw Operative

5310 Tree & Vegetation Clearance Operative

I'm a freelance climber/groundy, so in theory I could be doing any of those on a site! Just wondered what everyone else has(??) before I ring them up (as I doubt they have a clue what the difference is themselves!)

Cheers, Tom

You can put any amount on cscs cards so long is its not machinery. That is CPCS, I have to carry two cards cscs and CPCS. Was told I had to display both cards but only had one holder.

That's if the site boss even bothers to check the card in the first place.

would just get the green site labourer one. Its all you need as i do alot of sites and couple of my lads put extra bits down on theirs. ended up being charged more and sending more paperwork off . All they want to see is a cscs, they are not bothered bout the trade..Thats where your NPTC cards come in

Stick them all on Tom. I've got them all on mine plus a fifth, "Tree Surgeon", sorry don't know which ref no. it is.

If you put all the relevant ref nos. on the one application form, it won't cost any more or need any more form filling. And should cover all the bases should you get some pedantic site manager scrutinising your card.

Just an update on my CSCS card application;

Phoned CSCS who said that Arb/Tree Surgery applications are now all handled by an external organisation/company called BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries) and all the card categories and titles have changed:

Quality Assurance: LISS/CSCS

No mention of costs etc; waiting for a call back on Monday so will let you know how it goes

Hi Tom,

As there is no current provider for this service to the arb industry I am in the process of applying for the Association to become such.

Hence, watch this space.

Cheers n have a good weekend

Paul
