Well I got a fire going tonight, all from standing dead elms I felled the last couple of days, the dog's gone in the kitchen cos he's too hot, and we have all the doors open thru the house, whew!

....i aint evan lit the fire yet this year so i aint suppprised!.........it dont work for me unless its real dry,when its been real cold and my house has no heating it hasnt been as good as i thought wood that dead or dense should be........very dry yew ive found burns like plutonium fuel rods though!

i would not burn yew sold last yew logs form not a very big tree on ebay £120 gobsmacked only a big boot full

Plutonium fuel rods

I split an old yew log into 4 today and put it in the Bosky with a few lumps of coal - It lasted for about 7 hours at meltdown level. Has to be very well seasoned though.

 

So who's giving that kind of money for yew? I have a bit lying around...

wood turners....you regularly see little stacks of 4 logs go for a tenner on ebay

one guy used to take anything over 2 inch, must have been selling it on to turners.

Iv'e got loads (Tons) of yew... burns great, but some of it spits, or explodes!
