is it right that you can convert an 070 into a 090 by changing the pot and piston. Im after a 090 for milling I think I have more chance of finding hens teeth first.

 

Not with the early crank case, the later AV mount case you can, I converted a contra super into an 090, and fitted the later AV handles by making an adaptor

Ah that's not too bad, been milling some old dead standing oak today and had to sharpen every two runs. Was some hard old stuff! Definitely considering getting one of those grinder things as taking it off the mill is a bit of a pain. Do you do a battery powered one or is there an attachment for a Dremel I could use?

 

 

 

It's battery powered but you could just stick some of these stones in a dremmel I expect Products for the category: Grinding stones

Just a quick question from someone who has never milled anything. If the bar is much longer than the width of the piece to mill is there any advantage to angling the bar so it is closer to ripping along the length of the grain instead of across it?

 

 

 

Not really - you can see saw it around things but most of the time you'll be milling at pretty much a right angle...
