Stupid question but just got back from pub our lass is away with kids tried poaching eggs in a pan of water there must be a secret its a right bo**ocks !

Any gourmets on here that can enlighten me ?

Put a few drops of vinegar in a pan of boiling water, gently pour in the cracked egg and simmer for 2 mins, works every time for me!!

Vinegar in,stir the water quite fast then put the eggs in, the water spinning holds the egg white together.:biggrin:

 

Edit..Felix beat me to it, I was too busy poaching eggs.......

Rule number one, very very fresh eggs.

 

Many ways to poach an egg, I dont go for the cheffy swirly vortex thing myself, just bring the water to barely simmering, turn the heat off and crack the eggs straight in. Really fresh eggs ie day old will take about ten minutes to set the white properly but still leave the yolk runny.

The same but put a spin in the water with a spoon.

becouse we are from wirral and posh we have a lovely little poaching pan two lovely little cups you crack eggs into. water in pan to a gentle boil hey presto poached eggs:thumbup:
