Making an oak picnic bench direct out of the log

Yep it'll warp and crack a fair bit but glue and biscuiting would not stop green oak....

 

But just being bolted together will help keep it straight....

 

I'll also be doing softwood ones which won't move as much.

Hi Rob, what type/size fixings do you use to fix legs to table top?

 

Looks great and I do love simplicity.

 

 

I use screws called Ultimates and bolts called index bolts.

 

But the main tool is the impact driver to drive these in.... without that tool nothing is possible!

Class vid Rob, I take it that's my one,:001_smile:

I'm going to have that clip playing in the shop so people can see what they can do with a mill while sitting on the bench.:thumbup1:

 

If you want to see the bench in it's full glory pop down for a brew and have a sit on it, it's going to be outside in the sun for customers to use.
