Biting flys

Does anyone else get bitten by a tiny black flying beetle type bug? around 1.5mm long, oval shaped and shiny.

Every year when it gets warm I get bitten when working under trees in woods on arms, neck, the bites turn into large red bumps like mosquito, often only 1, and itch for days and days.

No one else but me seems to get bitten...(definately NOT a cleg, midge)

Sounds like it could be 'Blandford Fly'. Check out google, can give you a nasty bite and rash/swelling. More and more prevalent in UK. CDO
Aye, thats the very beast! I saw one the other day, but didn't get a chance to splat it before it flew away.
