12g Cartridges

Hello All,

 

I've been asked to go clay shooting by some friends, thing is I haven't been shooting in years. So I had to go and get some cartridges, and the cheapest the shop had were £39.50 for 250. Is the the going rate these days? (cartridges are 12g Eley First 26g 8 shot plastic) Just seems expensive to me!

Price has shot up lately ( xcuse the pun ) I think cos of raw material prices but that price is ok

I pay £65 per slab RC4 32g 6. It's the price of lead I think

Thanks guys, I was just shocked buy the price. I remember paying about £32 per 250 for Gamebore White Gold 28g 7 shot. must have been longer than I thought since I've been shooting.

seems a fair price - does the clay shooting ground allow the use of plastic wads?

Yeah about right. Lead prices are the cause. All rounds have gone up.

 

Paid 45 quid for 100 .223 a while back. Thank god I make my own. Just needed some more empty cases.

Yes, it's a small grass field only used for shooting. I asked before I got my cartridges.

that's good - grounds allowing plastic are getting rarer now. I bought a load of plastic a while back, and didn't get around to using them up before the ground I went to changed to fibre only. have sort of given it up now, and changed to rifle/volunteer pest control work as my gunsport of choice.

it'll only be club shoots that specify felt wad.... have never come across a cpsa registered shoot thats fibres only.... think they no half the shooters wouldnt turn up if they couldnt shoot plastic...
