See I think when you got your ass all the way out there with tight rope angles at full stretch on the flat branch structures in some stupidly large cedar doing a fine silky reduction I,d rather have my saw pod any day.

It's just a love or hate thing, like me and art :laugh1:

I rarely have problems getting the silky back in its scabbard. I have the silky attached to harness on the left and I use my right hand (mostly). Sometimes if the scabbard twists a bit it can be awkward but not ever as awkward as having that crud strapped to my leg getting caught up in everything and being generally uncomfy. Maybe I should try marmite someday if I ever get desperate enough and can't find real food to eat!

 most of the climbers I work with have scabbards usually some leather/composite affair I never see them struggle with getting it in or out and it does not get in their way.

Its like a lot of things in the arb world, and just my way of thinking. I have a laugh and a joke at gayjack users (and don,t get me started on rope wrenchers) but it's only tongue in cheek, what does annoy me is those that think this product or that product is the pinnacle of design way superior to anything around. And while not the best analogy a scabbard on your harness or sawpod on your leg is just down to your preference and what tool suits you best hence I,ll never slate a product but I will try to give an unbiased opinion on what I like and why.

Thinking about getting one can people offer opinions whether they like it or not,

I like it but i often wonder if it will become a pain reaching to my leg just to get my saw and if it becomes hard work when in stretched positions. Also does it fall out much because of the angles your legs are when climbing and when moving in dense trees.

I would like to get it off my harness so there is less on there and i think it looks pretty cool too lol

Thanks folks

Arran

Been thinking of using a swapod for years and trying to use silkys more in the tree now, snapped the attachment on my silky lanyard so have spent the last 2-3 weeks with the scabbard gaffer taped to my leg where a sawpod would go. Seems intuitive to have it there and will deffo be buying a sawpod at the celebration of trees next week. If you want to try you could try the same with gaffer tape at a fraction of the cost of a sawpod.
