It knackers the seals on the steering box output shaft Tom, although I very nearly thought "to hell with it"

Last time I had one of those stuck (on a knackered steering box) I removed the box/arm together. Padded out around the drop arm and then needed 5 full hits (17 stone tree surgeon in a bad mood type hits) with a sledge hammer to separate the two .

By then the old steering box (especially the thread) wasn't repairable.

I still love my landrovers though

The new drop arm has gone onto the splines with a very liberal dose of copper ease, next time it will just fall off :001_smile:

Hahahahahaha

Good luck Dean

Last time I did a drop arm broke a 15 ton hydraulic puller from a local farmer landed up chain drilled it and then took a kango to it no problem apart from ringing in ears.

I took the arm off because last time the ball joint went I used a kit, but couldn't change the inner part because it needed pressing out and to do that I needed to take the arm off. the price difference between the complete arm and a kit was very little so I have just changed the whole lot this time
