chipper wont turn over

have been using chipper all day turned off at end of day went to restart nothing, after fiddling with wires starter made clicking noise but would not turn engine engine has oil and did not get to hot, any body got any ideas as iam lost battery has good charge. (chipper old kwick chip with Ruggerini engine )have checked wiring all looks in place and ok

have you bin chipping conifer, ? is the chipper blocked ?

did you reverse the rollers before switching of ?

did you let the machine worm down before switching of ?

Sounds like the starter is jammed in engage, sometimes a tap with a hammer on the outer casing will disengage it.

not blocked and yes warmed down, chipping beech

It sounds like a stuck starter solenoid or the starter itself. Whilst trying to start it (kety turned) give it a sharp tap/ hit with a hammer. If this gets it going get it to an auto electrician for a clean or a rebuild.

sounds like the soloninnode i would thump it and then try it again it sound if its not engaging fully

Suspect starter

 

First of all check the engine will turn by hand, either by moving the chipper flywheel a little or remove belts and try turn engine flywheel.

 

Then you will have to check power is actually getting to both sides of the starter.

 

A quick test would be to put a jump lead from the battery positive straight to the starter motors big power connector which will make the starter spin but not engage, then t ouch the lead to just the little connector on its own which should make it make a big click which is throwing the gear
