Piece of 6" gas pipe concreted vertically into ground. Shave the butt of the tree down to fit and hammer in wedges all round to secure. Good for anything up to about 30 feet tall.

have put loads of christmas trees up but 6inch pipe seems small would expect you have to shave plenty off bottom of tree to get a fit i would have said 12inch min but that obviosly depends on size of tree we also wedge them and use cables to secure

We do loads every yeat using a 1000mm by 300mm piece of plastic pipe and wooden wedges hammered in. Usually set the pipe in about a cubic metre of concrete. For really tall trees, we drop a steel disc with spikes welded on into the bottom to stop the butt from moving about.
