whats your opinon of this pruning job?

That looks really neat. It amazes me, though, the number of people who cut trees with umbrellas.

hahaha I always think the same thing, especially on roadside jobs where one passing car is always garanteed to stop under the tree to ask the groundie for a card failing to notice or comprehend the work going on, maybe a more appropiate sign would be a car split in 2 by a falling tree, and not the guy who has dropped his umbrella.

Again, I suppose a lot of the side growth was done with a decent pruning saw and poles?

I bet it was awkward getting some of it down to the ground. Fairly confined. How long did it take?

Great to hear the wounds were well occluded. The benefit of making small diameter cuts in areas of the crown that are vigorous.:thumbup1:

Don't forget though, trees don't heal, they seal and reinforce to restore uniform stress.

Thanks Stevie and Marc , do I get a job??

Very better deffined "healing" than I could of put.

This took about 6 hours ,was priced in for the day.If they have never been touched before they are far easier,Re reductions imo are more time consuming as you try and follow an old line it was almost impossible on this tree to do so and you have used most of the decent growth points the first time around! Ms200 and a silky sugoi do 95% of the cutting there was some pole work but the tree could easily of been done with out... I tend to step cut every branch and chuck it in a DZ but then again I love beech because most of the hangers will slide out unlike say walnut! And I always have my groundy handy with a set of 4 jamesons to reach most hangers!
