Hi

I recently had a lot of chainsaws, strimmers, hedgecutters etc stolen. A few days later they were on Ebay and the police went and retrieved them all, as well as lots of other similar items. The problem they have is people do not record their serial numbers or note identifyable damage, which makes it really hard for them to find their owners.

Please write down your numbers and you'll be more likely to get your stuff back

Everything gets stamped, chainsaws are stamped under the handles on crankcases, we're removing the stamp is hard or not seen without stripping bits off the saw, same with strimmers and the like, big stuff like chippers gets tracking chip.

Leave nothing to chance.

Surely as part of PUWER all power equipment must be checked weekly. We produce a checklist with all serial numbers on for all saws that have to done weekly- each saw is assigned to a member of staff and they are resposible for it and have to check it thus we have all serial numbers noted. All companies can do this (and legally have to) easily done with XL spreadsheets whatever the size!
