Doubled line footlocking

I normally use a single line with a microfrog setup for long ascents, but on the odd occasion I'd like to footlock the doubled line then pull my lockjack up to myself to start work (thanks joe harris for the idea). It would save having to keep a separate line in for access and be a quicker changeover for work.

Having looked at getting a double ascender and not liking the price, is there any reason I can't use two single hand ascenders on a doubled static line? I haven't tried it yet but thinking about it I wondered if it could cause some slippage between either end if I was to miss strike with my feet

In the old days we just cable tied two petzl hand ascenders together, back to back, works at treat.

If you wanted you could remove half the handle from each one with a stanley knife then tape the two together to make one nicer handle one the two ascenders.

I used two joined together for years. I used two pieces of ply cut to the shape of the back part of the handle. One bolt through the ply that held the assenders in place. Then 4 zip ties to stop the assenders moving. Done this way the assender has been not altered in any way, therefore it can not fail its lola test.
