Hi guys, im doing a assignment for my foundation degree and comparing the 200t and 201t, I know there is alot of info out there already and I have already found in, just struggling on what year the 200t was released and if anyone has a reliable figure on what percentage or tree surgeons use a stihl top handle compared to any other brands that would be smashing.

cheers ciaran glyde

MS must have come around the millenium... I bought an 019T in approx 1999, and an MS260 in 2002.... Couldn't be any more precise than that though I'm afraid....

Until recently, i had an 064 that was dated 2000 on the handle so the change is now narrowed down to 2001 or 2002.

My rough guess would be 80% of climbers that would opt for the Stihl top-handle.

I'll suggest the same as I did to someone else... Survey Monkey my friend! Brilliant site.

I reckon if you balloted this site you'd get a pretty accurate sample... :thumbup1:

Why are you looking at the ms200 start date??

The top handle as we know it today started with the 020, the early ones were all alloy, I had an early one dated 1978, it had no chain brake, just a hand guard.

The shape and style we have today started with 020t in mid 90's.

i had a 1999 020t, so between 2000-2002 they must have changed to 200t's then.

But there was very little difference between the 020t and the ms200t, almost all parts are interchangeable, unlike the 201 where almost no parts from the 200 or 020 will fit.

In fact I think the 200 has changed more since in it introduction than it differed from the 020.
