ID help please

[Japanese Rowan]

Its in a large old/established park, there are a group of the trees but only look at be on the slope of the riverbank?

Below is a pic of the river bank with the trees in the background, but i don't have any twig shots (will get some this weekend)

Populus Alba. Although brown colour is unusual.

Could it be Populus alba with a red lichen covering, like seen on Ash sometimes?

Saw a mature Acer davidii today, bark was very similar to the pic shown. Could be a possibility. I'll get some piccys when i next go past it.

Its just a hybrid pop, there quite a few on the FC sure I'm at in salford, got pics but there on the pc, will post later
