MS261 Needle Bearing (Sproket Bearing Etc)

Hey Guys,

Just wondered if anyones had any problems with the needle bearing between the clutch and the sproket on the 261? Ive only used mine for 4days and the bearing has basically crumpled. I was so careful running this saw in too.

Spoke to the dealer today to ask for a new bearing and he said it could be a bigger problem as its happened after such a short timescale and told me to bring it in (all under warranty of course). Just wondered if other people have had similar problems? I read somewhere there was a recall on the earlier 261 saws just after release but I would have thought they would have sorted this problem by now...?

My only other thoughts after abit of internet based research was that it was running too lean (sounded like it was over reving - much more than a 260 - a bit like when a 260 is about to run out of fuel?). It was also cutting out every now and again taking a good few pulls to get it started again....but i thought this was just down to the cold weather.

Just wondered if anyone else can shed some light on this. Give me some ammunition to go to the dealers with. Kinda want it sorted particularly if its a faulty saw.

Thanks in advance.

Rob

hmmmn awesome.... so is this something you are still having problems with evenangelseatbeans? Have stihl tried to rectify it at all?

I really like the little saw feels like such a step up from my old 026. Shame this has happened so soon.

NO,because i dont use stihl groundsaws only husqvarna,i use stihl climbing saws

i was subbing for a company doing a bit of forestry,i was using my 346xp and at the end of the day would leave in the companies unit, but unit was broken into and all saws taken [including my own]

we were supplied the 261s by the company,i used for a few weeks and asked when my stolen saw was going to be replaced, they said i could keep the 261 but i did not want it,i said i wanted another husky,so they give me a 357xp.

my mate still works for the company and i think they still have problems.
