well, after panicing a month before christmas that we were going to have a yard full of timber left over a the end of the winter.......

 

took my last order today.....thats us sold out...again

Steady mate. Doing 5 loads a week on average. I'm waiting for more orders tomorrow as Friday seems to be the day for customers to ring! I've still got plenty left just getting to it is a slight headache as it's deep in the woods! Trailer and landy manage but can't get loads out at once.

Doing good. Averaging around 12 loads on a Sauturday. Stacks of wood left too!

Strong sales mid last year but dropped right off late last yr to present, we have had a few sales recently due to the cold snap but I can't think about retiring just yet! Where do you guys get the most joy from advertising? Word of mouth, yp, etc. What's the Thomson book like, agent getting on my case, considering giving them a try.

All my seasoned wood has gone, but i'm only small scale and its just what i bring back from jobs etc still it helps!

Orders already! Local paper at 20 quid a week is good, eBay has proven to be the best value at £1 for 10 days. Sold about 12 loads through that.

Been in business 20 years have 3 businesses yp waste of time thomson even worse. We put ours in the bin when it comes, if people cant be found online they have gone bust.

I'm a punter not a supplier and can completely agree with that. Before we started cutting our own I would either look in the local rags (Friday Ad etc), flyers in stores etc or just type in "logs Uckfield" into t'internet and see what came up. Don't think anyone has Yellow Pages or Thomson at home any more.

 

I think most punters prefer local so get flyers into shops and onto noticeboards etc. One of the local suppliers gives a couple of shops a load of logs in exchange for decent sized posters. But the best advert is good services - keep a customer happy and we'll come back.
