wouldnt they be better of spending thier time doing some research before stating utter crap!

first line says

government subsidises wood burning power, then says we pay for that in our electricity bills? come on they mean pay through our taxes surely?

Im all for green campaigns but biomass is as sustainable as it gets!

I seem to remember the argument is ... We do not actually produce enough timber to feed the planned biomass stations , which means we import more or fell what we have at a rate that can not be sustained... Either is a short sighted view for being more green..

all this talk about going green is all about taxes anyway, they used to use war as an excuse, now they have emission to use instead!

fight wars over oil and tax for the war, then tax everyone for using the oils, then tax everyone for the emission the oil makes, then when the oil runs out hike up the price of water production as we all turn to hydrogen cars!!

we loves it we do, being fed BS!

It is a subsidy dictated by the government but the mechanism that pays it to renewable generators is a tariff put on all fossil generated electric and then paid out by the electricity companies, most recently as feed in tariffs. So consumers of fossil electricity directly pay for the cost of renewable electricity ( 2-4 times the wholesale value)

As I sit here UK is probably consuming 55GW of electricty and several times that as direct heating, 1 tonne of dry wood contains ~5MWhr of heat and we grow how much harvestable wood?

Don't get me wrong, I've been involved with wood harvesting and wood burning for many years but...
