You could start by looking at problems arising from trees and work backwards from there

i have the type of tree and what you want to do to it i.e hard pruning fruit trees to cause stress to produce more fruit, root pruning for a reduce rate of crown growth, crown lifting for helping prevention of vandalism in streets, formative pruning for shape remedial for safety .... i was just hoping for a couple of the not so obvious ones i may have missed
