What are the best poles out there? We had a Silky Hayauchi 6.3m Pole Saw which were great, but since having ground staff who keep leaving them in the drop zone and swinging off them they no longer telescope.. Need to be robust but aluminium fine.

I've always used the Bahco poles, both the three part ally, and the two part fibre glass ones are great for what I use them for (pruning) For dead wooding, can't say they are that great, but haven't bought them for that.

The AUS utility fibreglass poles are the best. Very strong and lightweight, clip together to give you nearly 30ft reach. Any linework contractor will know what I'm talking about. New ones are expensive, but its quite feasible to get 'failed' ones cheap out of line clearance contractors as the testing is very rigorous, and the slightest pinhead defect or scratch is a fail.

Only problem with the hayauchi is the lopping head, you pull on the string , cut the branch and the thing jams so you have to shake it.

Bought a brand new head at the apf and that does the same, they haven't sorted the problem.
