Terrorists can stay* but my friend can't and is going to his death.

Words cannot even describe what I am feeling today.

The title start is arguable* I know, but my friend Gavins' blood is on the Home Offices' hands.

He and and his Wife and daughter face deportation back to Zimbabwe this week or very soon since the assigned Home Office Case Worker has denied them assylum / permission to stay despite knowing what lies in store for them on their return, for they are on Mr Mugabes wanted list.

You see my friend was a captain and chaplain in the Zimbabwean Army (and knew he needed to get out) and was granted a visa to study here for two years. During that time the Zimbabwean Government decided he was a deserter selling secrets to the collonial British :001_rolleyes: and will be only too glad for the UK gov to send them back. Such are court marshalled and simply disappear.

Despite poor relations between our respective embassies, it looks a done deal and of course helps with statistics that the UK appears to be dealing with innapropriate visitors! So innapropriate that they speak better english than 75% of the UK, work hard and furthermore actually have some respect for British culture.

I have never subscribed to the "every Tom, Dick and Harry is welcome here" thinking but oh my, when the soft targets are hunted down like this and the extreme-clerics get to hang on in there I could, well I dunno what I could do...

We are hoping our MP might have the compassion to act; I will find out more on this later. Re border, which border? I asked him if he was tempted to go off-grid; he said of course he was tempted but won't as he wants to preserve his integrity no matter what!

The more I dwell on this grievous matter the more I am tempted to do something like contact the press etc etc. That I suppose might make matters worse. Sending someone to where they will face certain torture and death - what are we playing at?!

Drenching my pillow with tears...

Is Gavin a white settler, ie Rhodie, or a native Zimbabwean...?

If he's a native Zimbabwean I'm not sure what we can do, we've been out of there for 30 years and well, we all know what Mugabe is, technically we should give asylum to the whole country before he murders the lot... But if he's a 'Rhodesian', where were his roots...? If they were UK then what the hell is going on?! If elsewhere, could that country not help him...?
