I find beeline a bit too soft, same with reigate and tenex.

I find a slightly stiffer cord holds the shape of the hitch better, ocean polyester isnt bad, liros herkulus is ok, 8mm roblon doublebraid is ok.

You will get as many different opinions on the perfect vt as there are people using it. Its a case of experiment until you find one you like.

I like a fairly loose hitch, so it self tends easier, but it doesnt grab 100% reliably, which some people cant abide.

it was your 'tennex on the inside and something else on the outside' statement that threw me. i do like the hammer in you avatar though

Yep its wrong, I just went and double checked and I think its Ultra-Tech wich has a technora core not a tenex core. The inside does look like tennex though.

The hammer amuses me to.

8mm roblon and liros are my favourites on scorch but im using 8mm ocean p on a 3-1 combo on fly not really a fan of it but its on the rope becouse half my gear is soaking wet.

I find the number of wraps is down to how long you have the hitch cord i usually have mine quite long so will opt for a 4-3 then fine tune from there if its short 3-2 or 1 if its not tending slack but you have too keep an eye its bedding down on minimum wraps....also if the cords shorter theres not much sit back, but i usually prefere the charactoristics of a longer cord, its not in your face and doesnt pull through slack(dare i say it!) so easily if your climbing above your anchore point
