Your opinions on new type of 'chipper'

I like the concept...but think it would be a nightmare to design and build you obviously have some ideas on this though.

 

Also I would question if it is that practical compared to a standard chipper??

If you could seperate the leaf matter out, you could dry the wood and shovel the product onto your fire,,, cool

 

Even twigs would be firewood

Looks like a great machine with a nice end product but I dont think there would be any way to use it the way I run our business.

 

I wouldnt want to take it onto site I think it would slow the job down and I think my groundie would walk off if I told him we were throwing brash on the back of the van to take back to the yard

 

I'm sure there would be a market for it somewhere though.

They are fully working prototypes. At the moment they dont meet safety regs though.

The only difference would be the end product. it would handle the brash in as quick a fashion as your chipper.

I was sort of thinking about it maybe being a bit more bulky then woodchip so filling the van quicker and then when getting back to the yard having a van load of logs and chip to then go through and sort out.

What could you then do with the stuff that was no good for firewood and more like shredings than chip?

I think there might be a small difference in bulk, but not much.

 

As for the small stuff, it still just chops it into small lengths. It all burns:001_smile:

would it limit you to the type of brash which would be appropiate?

I.E people wouldnt want a bag full of conifer sticks and needles

any way of changing the size of the end produce-e.g convert it to standard chip??
