I would definitely check the pump's belt tension first before getting messy with oil. Mine was really slack and hadnt noticed for ages until the power dropped.

If the oil and filter have not been changed for 3 years :scared1: CHANGE THEM!!!!

Oil, filters and grease are by far the cheapest mechanics I know!!

Totally agree, but I was just thinking about not getting up too early to change all that and just nip it up to get on with the days work. Then sort at the weekend.

Good point!

But don't get it working and then forget about changing the oil and filter!

When was the engine oil and filter changed ?

Maybe a full service is in order ?

think MR ED could be your man for info on chipper repairs ages ago there was a aimilar question think he suggested changeing the hyd motors

Thanks for the vote of confidence:001_smile:

Seems like the guys have it sussed though. Once oil and filter has been changed, try feeding something in.

If the speed of your rollers is good but power is weak, its probably safe to say your pump and motors are fine, but your pressure relief valve may be worn, meaning that as soon as the rollers are loaded and the pressure spikes, the relief valve blows oil back to tank.

Its easy enough to put a new spring in your pressure relief valve, as this can solve your problems.

Get a timberwolf dealer to show you where the pressure relief valve is.

I wonder if any of you guys can help me. I got a yellow 6 inch entec, think it's the CH25 model. It's got twin feed rollers and the rollers have been getting progressively weaker and weaker when pulling in debris. The rollers are stopping now on silly little twigs! I have to keep reversing and forwarding to get the stuff through. The chipping side of things seems fine so i'm guessing it's the hydraulics. I know nothing about hydaulics! Do i need to bleed them or change the fluid..... any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Mine is playing silly buggers too at the moment. Check the hydraulic oil level first. The level screw is half way up the tank facing the lower hyd-motor. 1/2 inch spanner size. Check the filter by using a long spanner in the slots on the plastic top of the filter chamber. Pull out the spring and lift out the filter . it should be oil coloured. if its got balck spots or grey metalic sludge then seek help. . Mine is 10 years old and the pump is original and the motors where separately changed after 9 and 10 years.
