Hello all, first post. I have been building a climbing device I call the Bulldog OAR (Offset Ascending Rack) It can be used on a single line or a doubled line. I have a demonstration video.

An arborist has suggested that it can be configured with a hitch below also, which makes it tend slack nicely when the rope is pulled up through the hitch climber pull as shown in this picture.

It is similar to the Unicender, but it has all steel friction and holds the rope very securely once installed. It also releases differently. On a single line, when you pull the bottom arm down, with or without the hitch, the top two arms act as a friction assist on descent. It combines the features of a Uni with a RW and clamps on line immediatly when weighted.

Thought I would update the latest development on the OAR. Here is a picture of this slack tending OAR. Because the whole device pivots, it allows the OAR to tend slack in the normal. The short demo video was filmed by my youngest son. manner.102_1591.jpg

Looks interesting.... Let me guess, not in the uk for another year or three, has to be CE approved (another year +) and will cost eleventy million pounds?

If your looking for someone to test it real world style send me a prototype and I will abuse it as a piece of shiny kit should be......

Seriously, I like the look of this.
