schmidt do a kit that effectivly locks the front suspension solid, its designed for any front mounted implement that needs to be held stable in use ie. front mounted mowers, hedge trimmers, cranes, etc, it clamps round the front axle and is braced back from the linkage mount brackets on the chassis. The us army used a system that locked the shock absorbers on there SEE and forklift mogs but these were the older round nose mogs, not the square cab models. with a mog, if you want to do a particular job, the kit is more than likly out there to do it. Ive worked on/ buillt some weird looking combinations in my day

eddie, if your going to fit the front DIN plate, make sure you get the right size, there are various ones, and they are not interchangeable on the mounts, also get/fabricate the lift kit, its two round iron spacers, like hockey pucks, that go on top of spring mounting plates, and some weird metal extensions that extend the bottom shock mounts, the are genuine merc bits, check the parts catalouge in your local merc commercial dealer

The crane should have legs, so there should be no need to lock the suspension.

As for lifting the suspension, if the crane is so heavy that its bottoming the suspension, I would be worried about your front hubs, if it were me I'd try and keep the weight of the crane under 900Kg.

Thanks for the Info had a long chat with Frank Atkinson this afternoon and he said they have mounted one on the front before and worked well and as long I am not sticking a huge crane and lifting a large weight it will work well with out locking the front up. So I am going to try it on the linkage and see what it's like.

Will take some pictures/vids and let you know.

Thanks For you very useful advice once again most appreciated

Ed
