My old boss ran one beside a unimog, It took some abuse i'l give it that, The big end went at 229,000miles and was sold of to India at a similar price he paid for it. As long as you don;t go even slightly offroad, ie avoid even the flatest stretch of grass then they are quite good.

One real plus I liked over a transit etc was that being flat fronted cabs and narrow they are extremely manouverable. As said above I wouldn't want one if I was doing big treefells day in day out but, personally for day to day average hedge work/tree surgery id prefer one over a transit.

you wouldn't want a bigger chipper then 6 inch on the back once loaded with chip, ours was a 2.5NA, Im sure the 3 liter turbo would be a different world.

 

Thats a crock to start with, they have and will pull 2.5 tons all day long, with a loaded chip box! I did it for 3 years

Im just inerested in peoples experiences with cabstars in tree wrok. reliability/economy etc.

HI DEN there good but no good on grass or in the snow or off road but on road there ok i have a 110 tipper for the logs i need it on the mendips in the winter all the best jon :thumbup:
