Not just waterproofs but all things outdoorish try.... http://www.strauss-direct.co.uk

got a catalogue through the other day and they look to have soom fairly good garb there.

The Hi-Vis pilot jacket looks fairly smart for around £30

ive ordered gear off strauss, good quality kit, and plenty of choice, good service as well. bought a pair of boots with them and an eyelet came off (my fault) they replaced them straight away.

Yes it does seem a lot for a coat suitable for just standing about in. But maybe the picture is rubbish. Goretex has a name that commands high prices, not always justifiably.

You can do more then just stand around in it.. Goretex does command a high price. But I have yet to find anything as breathable and hardwearing.

Any one into mountineering or outdoor pursuits wouldn't think twice about spending that sort of money on a jacket. Why would you not want the best kit for something you do everyday..? There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.

I own at least 6 different gortex shells which I've picked up over the years. Previous to my fristards I had a North Face gortex jacket which is now over ten years old that I'd used for many years before using it for climbing in. It is still waterproof and in good condition, I only changed it as I wanted Hi Viz..

I don't like being wet and cold.

  • 1 year later...

I've had my fristards Jacket and Trousers for 9 years and there still going, only single shell so light enough to leave on when grafting without sweating like a fat bloke... They have seen plenty of action two including landscaping works... lot of time on knees ect and still waterproof......
