Spiking on a lean

You need to stand up straight and lean back a little, which means you let your flip line out a fair bit, this takes a bit of getting used to, but if you don't and try and lean towards the stem you will really struggle.

this is one of the most uncomfortable work positions you can get!. As has already been said, stay on the 'away' side of the lean and lay back into it. Having practiced a number of pole rescues in this scenario, I can say that its one of the most physically challenging situations to face as a climber...'Orrible!

Cheers for all the advice guys. will be sure to try some of them. I just hate working in these positions, feels dodgy, sometimes it fe:thumbup1:els to dodgy to even start making cuts. Infact one tree i did i had to come down and get the more experienced climber to do it, was a walk in the park to him, defo the best climber ive seen yet.
