  2. Hi, Been working in Australia as a groundie/2nd climber now for 6 months and would like to get anoher year out here. Basically i need to do three months work in a regional area to qualify for another years visa. Does anyone on here have or know of anyone that has a company in these areas that would be willing to take someone on? I have alll my ground saw and climbing tickets, lots of experience on the ground and a fair bit up a tree, pruning and light dissmantles ect. Would fly out to anywhere i was offered the work. Mob 0424469958
  3. If your in Carnwath it would be worth giving MW Groundworks a phone, they are near Tarbrax. Need all own gear and be a fairly good cutter and be able to work without someone telling you how to do everything, only a little climbing though as they do alot of site clearance so CSCS card is needed.
  4. Whats the diffrence between the Gladiator Ventilation A and the Gladiator 2 cool?
  5. Can anyone advise me on a reasonably cool pair of trousers for hot weather, im going to be heading over to Oz at the end of the month and dont fancy wearing my current type C trousers, been loooking at the Pfanner Gladiator Ventialtion but they are a bit pricey, anyone tried them or any others worth a look? Cheers
  6. Not that big but my biggest in a built up area, with a audience watching it sure puts the pressure on. Was tottaly buzzin when it was going down (nice slow drop) and on the deck but held my cool and made it made it look like its an everyday thing:thumbup1:, Bit annoyed that i dipped the nose on the cut but practice makes perfect
  7. Had a look at the clamp today and it seems to have the metal one on it. I started it up today rev'd it a few times and left it to run for a while and everything seemed fine, got some small connnies to fell tomorrow so will see how it holds up and take it from there, knowing my luck as soon as i get it out the van it will start with its nonsense again, cheers for the help though.
  8. Hi Dont know much about the working of a saw so thought i would post here for advice. Basically my saw sounds like its goin to run out off fuel even when its got a full tank. Revs go high and it dampens or cuts out completely. I though theres maybe a blockege somewhere and its not getting enough fuel. Any you guys knw why this may be happening? Cheers
  9. Im heading out in April, was gona buy a new pair of protective trousers but since searching for ozy tree work vids on the net it doesent look like any of them are wearing them, am i going too need them or wasting my money?
  10. Cheers for all the advice guys. will be sure to try some of them. I just hate working in these positions, feels dodgy, sometimes it fe:thumbup1:els to dodgy to even start making cuts. Infact one tree i did i had to come down and get the more experienced climber to do it, was a walk in the park to him, defo the best climber ive seen yet.
  11. We were doing a big job a while back on a big river banking, most of the trees had a bit of a lean towards the river, this has been a major problem of mine for a while now. Basically when a tree starts to get fairly thin and theres a bit of a lean i find it really hard to stay round one side of the tree and terribly difficult to make cuts etc, use guys any advice on this. Cheers
  12. Can anyone recommend a Australian tree ID book, heading out there soon and would like a wee bit of background knowledge on the common tree species? Cheers
  13. Yip thats how its done, my family have owned a petrol station for 40+ years. People come in all the time claiming they have forgot there wallet, thing is if you doint get the police involved straight away they aint interested when you phone saying someone hasnt come back to pay there fuel, they say its a civil matter and to take them to court, which isnt even worth it in the end, the money made on fuel independently is shocking and with everyone driving off or not coming back to pay really effects the business, if we could still get the same amount of business in the shop and scrap the fuel we would in a second, but thats what brings the customers into the shop.
  14. Not got alot on over the holidays, company i sub too isnt back till the 9th so looking for some extra work. Cs 30/31, 38/39, owns saws, climbing kit. Get me on [email protected] for more info, looking for work in central scotland but will possibly travel futher. Cheers
  15. Im neding a decent climber for a days work on saturday 17th, got a biggish beech to reduce part overhead a house and a few phone lines and a Ash to remove. Must have all own gear. PM me with contact details and day rate. Deni
  16. No real plans yet, meeting up with some mates either in sydney or perth i think, will prob travel about a bit and then look for work.
  17. Cheers for the replies. Forgot to mention its primarily groundie work im going to be looking for, i have my climbing tickets and done a fair bit of climbing but not at the stage in my career to advertise myself as a 'climber' yet, is there still alot of work out in oz for groundies?
  18. Evening, I got granted my working holiday visa a few months ago and im heading out to Oz feb at the latest (not sure which part yet). Was looking for any advice from those that have been working in the tree buisiness over there. Few things im not sure about like do my NPTC's qualify and should i buy new PPE before i go or is it cheaper over there, also what kind of protection you need to wear, dont fancy wearing all round as i will be toasting in the heat! Any and as much advice would be appreciated. Cheers Deni
  19. On the hunt for some weekend work, im in west lothian but will travel a reasonable distance, have cs30/31, 38/39 and own saw. Available at short notice. PM or give me a phone on 07740433517. cheers.
  20. I got more concerned about this tree when i had a look at a similar one at a hotel for a friend, two tree surgeons had looked at it before me and they both said it had to come down so this got me thinking about the ash at my Dads. The original owner of the Farm steading planted these trees himself and for that reason we would like to keep the it so im going to go with a reduction and maybe think about bracing it. Could be doing with the reduction practice anyway:thumbup1: Will get some pics up when i get a chance to do it. And thanks everyone for the advice:thumbup1:
  21. From what ive read in Hama's other posts the guy seems to know what he's talking about, would be comfortable taking his advice on this one no problem!
  22. You cant see from the pics but the house is a kind of H shape, and one of the walls is just next to the Audi.
  23. As you can see their is alot of weight on the leaning side of the tree, just a bit worried that in full leaf this may choose to go in winds?
  24. Hi Folks, I have a tree at my Dads that im a bit concerned about, its an ash, and has a fair amount of inlcuded bark, you cant really see from the pic but the lobe on it is very big, im no expert on this so would like your opinions. My main concern is if it were to split its its landing where we park our cars, part of the house and possibly one of us. As i say im no expert so any advice would be great. Hope you can see what going on with the pics i have taken. Thanks
  25. Hi, Im looking for some weekend work over the next few months in the central belt area of Scotland and possibly further areas. I hold cs 30/31 and 38/39 with own saw. PM me if you have something or would like more details. Cheers Deni
