What rope for your lanyard??

So, I spent ages splicing up some Marlow Aeris a couple of weeks back for my new lanyard and was really liking it, daisy chained up nicely to keep it out of the way, light, soft yada yada yada...

Until yesterday when about a foot from the spliced end (3.5 M length so not enough to resplice) I discovered a nick, no idea how it got there, but there it is and LOLER coming up so, new lanyard time, again!

Dont fancy the Aeris splice again but liked the features of that rope so anyone any suggestions?? Dug out a grillion at work so something compatible with that perhaps??

We use a 5m split-tail as a replacement for the Grillon lanyard & tie a stopper knot in the 'blind' end - been doing that for years - alternatively, Yale Blue Tongue is a nice rope to handle and at least it was designed for arb work unlike the OP (clue's in the title, eh)

OP is the friction hitch.... not the working line. What difference does it make if its got the name 'Ocean' in the name?? AFAIK it is designed specifically for arb work as a friction cord.

Whats the ocean poly like to splice? Only worked on climbing line so far not acc/hitch cord.

I find it easy... have done loads now though! The hardest part for me is getting the core through the cover.
