I had the same problem with the dreaded 338xpt and in the end it was the rings!!!! just bin it and start again ,any secondhand saw is always a risk and the time spent playing about with isn't worth it.I tried everything with my husky I sent it back to the dealer changed the carb plug filters and in the end it was just used up!!!I had it for three years so was well used and payed for itself. So I took it apart and the top ring was bust and the piston was black due to blow past when it was cold it was great but once it had warmed up it was a nightmare, just when you needed a saw to behave it would play up,and when you are forty foot up a rotted ash it's not the time.

I put it on ebay for spares and got over a hundred quid for it hope I'm not too depressing about your saw but tophandle's need to be in the best of condition for use aloft otherwise they can become dangeress and frustrating.

Just been reading this thread and it has been interesting. I have a Husky 357xp ground saw which is just doing what the 200 is doing. It is a bugger to start, when I get it going it needs the chock to restart it again and again no matter if it has been running for 5, 10 or 30mins. I have changed the filter in the fuel tank and changed the spark plug.So I am going to check everything else that has been mentioned to see if I can find out what is wrong with it. Cheers guys.
