My stump grinder is an American Snapper SCPSC 5.5

They are apparently unavailable here in the UK and was one of five imported. It uses the rayco pocket style teeth but with a slot cut into it to hold them in place.

 

I have seen some teeth for sale on tebay but the slot is cut in the front face and not the side face.

 

I have retipped my own up tp press because of the difficluty getting hold of teeth.

 

The stump grind itself is an absolutely cracking thing. The unique thing about it is that the handle pivots over the top of the machine so you can stand infront of the cutting wheel and see exactly what you are doing.

 

I haven't seen this feature on any other machine.

I have had it around 5 years and not once been hit with flying chip whilst stood infront of the machine. Being able to see what you are doing doesn't half speed the job up.

 

Anyone know where teeth are available for this machine?

i can get stick teeth for near a £1 each but i still sharpen them you can get 5-10 sharpens out of a tooth and i just cant throw them away.

 

I have an industrial fan set in the wall and have built a wooden box/duct around the bench grinder so it suck all the dust out... still wear a mask though

Diamond wheels are less hassle

I dont bother to take the teeth off my grinder anymore .

I re-touch them up with a diamond wheel.

Quicker and no nasty green dust.

If you can't be bothered to sharpen your teeth have a look at Greenteeth from Liston's. Use, turn, three times then throw away . you can sharpen them if you want but we don't bother as you get loads of life from them and more productiverty, 25% more then most teeth.

A diamond wheel is the way to go, about £30-40 from ebay. Way cheaper in the long run than green wheels and nowhere near as dusty, plus you can get a better edge on the teeth.
