We used to have 3 English Mastiffs :-O two were kept outside in a dedicated run with a 8x6 shed full of hay and blankets to sleep in at night and one who had run of the house with a jack Russel to keep her in order :-) She was never allowed on the bed though much to much slobber for that. we have now got a Lurcher and a Russell who sleep in a basket in the utility room. on the point of security the two Male Mastiffs who were in the compound each weighed about 14 stone and were a very dark brindle ( it will become apparent in a min ) the one side of the compound was a fence 7ft high adjacent to the property next door and partially adjacent to the road, one night about 2 in the morning there was a hell of a commotion ie dogs barking cars revving, people shouting and a car accelerating hard away !!!! I looked across to where the dogs were but all seemed to be in order. the next morning when I went down to sort the dogs out I noticed some material on the top of the fence and the bushes on the road side were flattened down, all I can imagine is some Tosser had hopped over the fence straight into the Dogs compound :-) needless to say they never came back wish I had got a cam running that would of been worth £250 on you've been framed

In a purpose built lair under the stairs...

I like that :001_smile: - reminds me of a feisty labrador I had once. His bed was in an alcove to the right hand side of the aga. Walls on three sides and a full depth shelf above. Getting him out if he had retreated in there wet and muddy was akin to a frontal assault on a pill box on a D-Day beach :001_unsure:
