Fencing is ok. We do loads. But there isn't really a lot of money in it - just the usual materials + labour. Try to make too much profit on it someone else gets the job. Especially at the moment with so many builders not having much work on.

I agree, on the whole fencing only makes decent money if you have decent machinery (just like tree work really) I used to do loads of post and rail digging holes by hand, barely made a living, brought a digger and hydraulic auger and can now make fairly decent dough.

I do a decent amount each year, generally 15,000 meters of stock/post and rail as well as a few thousand meters of domestic or commercial as well. Lots of competition for smaller scale work due to out of work builders and handymen etc.

Do you use your post knocker on 5x3 post and rail too? I know some folk doing it cover many meterage per day, modern post drivers are so much more accurate at driving than old parmiters etc. much quicker than digging/backfilling.
