This photo was taken a few days after the Lupine flower photo posted previously. The man in this photo is from Germany, and we did did a couple days worth of exploring together. Posted this also in the Bigfoot redwood thread.

Good call on Stout grove, it's also a beautiful drive to it on Howland Hill Rd.

Found this on our very first stop opposite the entrance to the Boy Scout Trail.

Sorry about the picture quality, had to take a few with the ipad so that i could post on here. Also didn't have any beautiful women with me to pose next to the tree :( - just an old arb.

Evidently you had a fine adventure. Picked a good trunk to pose with. I like going across from the same trailhead every so often, too.

Here's a portrait from the same park, about a year ago. The woman works at the Casino along Howland Hill Rd., just outside the same park.

Photos taken at the Simpson Reed loop off the paved Hy. 199, parking near Walker Rd.

Very nice! I remember passing that casino - i should have stopped.

I've had a couple of trips to Prairie Creek in the last few days. Avenue of Giants tomorrow. I've been told that Founders Grove is a must.

If you catch this note tonight or early morning before you head to the Avenue, look for the Grieg French Bell loop i posted in post 223

It's at the north portion of the Avenue of the Giants. Decent size turnout and marked with a decent size sign at the edge of the grove.

Mattole Rd. and Bull Flats is awesome too.

I'm headed down just after the 15th this coming month / July

Be sure to get off the beaten track. We stopped at a Best Western in Brookings that was on the Beach. Sunsets were cracking. Heaps of little roads worth exploring to whale watching points, beautiful beaches etc.

This is in the area he referred to, about 30 minutes north of the California state redwood park Jedediah Smith.

The photo shows the coastline near Brookings, on the north side of Harris Beach State Park.

Do you ever see bears on your adventures? Have you had any close calls?

Beautiful pictures as ever!

Lupine_2_1200.jpg

About 40 minutes after taking this photo posted earlier, we saw and took photos of bears in the other attached.

That was fairly recent. No close encounters on foot, but seen black bear in the forest or driving, about 6 times in the past few years.
