A white bird is used as a marker bird by the keeper hence the 50£ fine and a volley of swearing from the keeper .

 

May be in days gone but nowadays its a more of a novality thing as rearing of game birds has considerably changed.

Been out of the game for15 years and the guy that taught me was near the end of his working life so your probably right.

Gonna get it stuffed as not much meat on it.

 

Put a picture up once it's done. The lad on my shoot said if you don't get them in a glass cabinet they go tatty very quickly.

Years ago a big estate next to me let a day to a party of germans,i was there as a loader and at the begining of 1 drive the head keeper said sternly that there was a special white pheasant in the wood and on no account was it to be shot.

Yes,the first bird out was that one,and they bottled it. Happy days.
