With a few additions the grillon or art would do what the ce does for nowhere near the money. haven't tried the art, but a grillon works singled out so you can gain almost twice the length when you need it

used both.

find the grillion better as you control and adjust it with ease, a little resistance helps in some ways.

find the postioner a bit small and fiddlely and not as robust, although it can take the knocks i'm sure.

grillions are only £20 on ebay, never find a postioner on there......the cinch looks good fun but havent found a cheap one yet.

Where is these gri gri for £20 had a look can't find one for that price they are usually around 65. Do you get diffrent models?

You want the grillon not the gri gri. The latter is a proper belay device.

Though I suppose with a gri gri you could make your own grillon but it would cost more

I'd definitely go with Art. I used the Grillon for seven years but replaced it this year with a positioner. Great compact device that is just as good as a Grillon and a swivel positioner makes it better.

What really hacked me off about the Grillon was that Petzl insists that it has to be used with their rope (£35+VAT for 3metres!) for it to pass a LOLER test.
