in need of a new lanyard set_up and was wondering what you peeps think is best out of art or petzl.

I've tried the positioner and own a grillion - I'd go for the positioner, the grillion isn't great at releasing under load.

I now use a VT and pulley.

I use the grillion albere and wish i had brought the art have you looked at the ce lanyards .:001_smile:

That was my thinking too.

I used the grillion strop with a pinto and OP cord - and have ended up with something that is like the CE lanyard.

I just got a positioned, I love it, very smooth, and releases under load really nicely, I'd go for the one with the swivel as it holds its position really well and allows you to feel the rope going into the device with 3 fingers while your trigger finger pulls the release lever.

Great bit of kit.

I use art, wouldn't bother with the petzl. since i started using the art postioner 2years ago i will never look back, started with a distel and pulley that got the job done imo. i think the art postioner is a little more expensive than the petzl but worth the money:001_smile:

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm currently using hitch climber set up but just fancied something smaller and tidier.so does the cam lock of well bc it looks similar to the sj and that can slip now and again, could be spooky on spikes.

Seems like you got yor heart set on the ART or the grillion but I would defo consider the trango cinch. very compact device and smooth as you like.especially when loaded. only takes up to 11mm rope tho. toss up between the two other devices Id go with the ART. grillion quite cumbersome.

it is very similar to the sport jack and lock jack, the cam holds very well! just make sure you replace the cam after a year or so (only pence)
