Just wondering where or who with you've done a hpi check with and some feed back on if they were any good.

I thought it was just a case of putting a reg number in and away you go but i've tried on a few sites and they also want the chassis number etc....:confused1:

anyone used one lately :thumbup1:

A friend of mine in the trade HPI'd a car I bought off eBay for me. All he told me was 'it HPI'd OK..' whatever the hell that means!

To be honest I don't know whether it was worth doing, because if I decide I want something, I find it very easy to discount the fact that it's two polish coffins welded together inside out anyway....

Ref chassis number, you'll need the VIN off the car to make sure it matches up with the one which comes back via the vehicle check anyway....

Number plates can easily be switched, far better to check the VIN plate and reg are correct.

Or you could find you've bought a stollen vehicle with the same reg as straight motor.

true.... will check vin on vehicle and v5, and also old mot's etc

Worcs wuss- I don't think the issue is about whether its a 'cut and shut' job. It's more to do with whether there is an outstanding loan on the vehicle. My best mate privately bought a car and subsequently had it taken away by the repo man. He never got the amount he paid back, had years of grief ncluding going through the courts and ended up selling the debt to a recovery company. It certainly has taught me to me more cautious when buying privately.

i think you have to put vin no. in if the insurance from hpi is to be valid.

we always use them, we were going to buy an alfa a couple of years ago and the report flagged up the fact the mileage had 'discrepencies'.

one mot said 40,000 miles, and the next said 17,000. the car was being sold as 'low mileage'

lol
