Sorry Rob not clear enough. I meant the Hand held file guides/ holder that stihl do. (Cheep)

I will do freehand but like to use a guide sometimes to make sure the angles are spot on

Just wondered about Husky ones or any others on the market that are better.

I don't want grinder or electric to harsh on chains

I dunno really. All files stihl, oregon and vallorbe are all the same and are all made by vallorbe. They just have a different name on them that's the only difference (or so my sources tell me).

I've also been told that but not sure i trust the source to be honest.

Stihl files are nothing like Oregon either.

No not sure I do either :laugh1: but thought I'd put it up and perhaps one of the industry types on here would set me right!

Close ups of the different round files as below.

I've e-mailed vallorbe as you never know....

So which ones do you prefer and why?

This EZ file thing appeals to me.... can I give you my NPTC certificate number off my card to get unlocked... can't find the paper certificate and NPTC want 30 something quid for copies!

I hate filing my rakers, they make that noise that goes up my spine.... !

I tried one of those electric abrasive wheel sharpeners once, as said, didn't seem to get it as nice as a hand file and it definitely didn't last. I also have an Oregon file guide but I never use it, I have always just used a file in a brace which seems to suit me fine.

Would definitely like to try an EZ file though...
