Stihl EZ file

Recommended Posts

Some more info on the Stihl EZ file system.

Really the system will only accept Stihl files.

But bear in mind it comes in 4mm, 4.8mm and 5.2mm only.

I do have some pferd EZ files in 5.5mm for .404 chain but normal files do not fit in this one (perhaps why Stihl do not do a 5.5mm one as I'm pretty sure pferd make these for Stihl).

It also says below only for .325 and 3/8 chain but there is another 4.0mm EZ file for 3/8 lo pro or picco chain.

I'm a convert, bought the three different pitch sizes. They are great to use out on site especially when using a log vice. Haven't found a supplier for the centre flat file yet.

rob..... it seems Oregon 5.5mm files are fatter than pferd 5.5mm files........both are the same length........you would have thought both would have fitted the pferd CS X.

I have the csx.....tried an Oregon in it but the holes are too small, not by much, I suppose easy enough to fix if u prefer Oregon.

Yep they are slightly different size - Pferd seem to make most but prob not all Stihl files - as you said you can always adapt the holes to take the oregon ones.

I have the replacement flat files for them here Products for the category: EZ file
