The pollarding would probably have contributed to the larger foliage perhaps -akin to getting larger lusher foliage on Catalpa/ Paulownia when pollarded...

 

Would be gutting if it was a davidia though... there should be a law against working on them trees.. lol beauties...

Hi Al, yeah I'm good thanks for asking. Very busy at moment, lots of subbying, crashed out some big poplar tops this week, getting more confident. :thumbup1:

 

How about you? Things going well?

 

Can't complain, booking into the New Year now, and looking forward to a few days off over Christmas.

I'm pretty sure its Alnus cordata due to the cordate shape of the leaf and as jwade says the pollarding would give the large leaves effect (they can be big anyway)

 

Defo not a Eucalyptus though:lol:

 

I think your right Rob, everything I can find points towards Alnus. It is suprisingly hard to make an id on leaf alone isnt it?

What books do you use Rob? I have the owen johnson and use hilliers alot any others you recommend
